Buckingham Palace reveals Prince Philip funeral arrangements
Buckingham Palace has announced that Prince Philip’s funeral will take place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor at 3pm on Saturday (April 17).
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the private service will be attended by just 30 mourners, expected to be made up of members of the royal family include Prince Philip's children and grandchildren.
The funeral will begin with a national minute's silence at 3pm. It will be broadcast live on television. The military funeral will include a burial in Frogmore Gardens.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: "The service will be preceded by a ceremonial procession inside the grounds of Windsor Castle.
The plans for the funeral are in line with The Duke of Edinburgh's own personal wishes, and the occasion will recognise and celebrate The Duke’s life and his more than 70 years of service to The Queen, the UK and the Commonwealth."
Prince Harry, who lives in California with his wife Meghan Markle, is expected to attend. But Meghan, who is pregnant, is not.
Timelapse footage shows scores of mourners leaving flowers at the gates of Buckingham Palace on Friday (April 9) on the day that the death of Prince Philip was announced at the age of 99.
