Playful baby elephant climbs over brother before falling on his back with feet in the air
I was alone spending time with a herd of elephants in the Kruger National Park. My attention moved to a small part of the herd gathered around a mud wallow. Elephants around mud and water usually makes for entertaining viewing. I spotted a young male elephant lying on its side in the mud with his much younger brother approaching him, looking like he wants to play. The baby elephant decided it would be fun to climb over his brother while he is down in the mud. At first it all looked easy enough for the baby elephant to climb over his brother. The playfulness of the baby elephant was hilarious to watch and just as I though this comedy show reached the climax, the baby elephant fell forward over his brother, face first in the mud with all four feet up in the air. The baby elephant lay their kicking with his feet in the air in an attempt to get back onto his feet. At the same time the older brother was also making an attempt to get out of under his younger brother. Finally, the two playful elephants decided it was time top go and left the mud wallow. This was probably one of the most hilarious elephant behaviours I have seen in a very long time.
