Heartwarming footage from Utah has captured the moment a girl was surprised with a puppy that her parents had told her was no longer available. Ryann Hernandez spent several years asking for a puppy but her parents wanted to wait until she demonstrated enough responsibility to have a pet.

When the time was right, the family visited a breeder and collectively fell in love with a puppy. Out of a litter of nine they each ended up choosing the same one. After making arrangements to welcome the new puppy into their family, Ryann’s parents immediately told her that the puppy they had chosen was already spoken for. The plan to surprise Ryann was officially underway.

A month later, Ryann was told she was accompanying her parents to visit a relative in Utah. Struggling to contain their excitement, Ryann’s parents had already arranged for the breeder to meet them in a parking lot to carry out the surprise. At the parking lot, Ryann got out of the car expecting to meet a relative, only to be surprised by her new puppy – Kona!

Speaking about the video Ryann’s mother, Erin Hernandez, said: ‘We told Ryann that we were going to visit my cousin at a new home near the boarder of Utah and Idaho. The whole way from Salt Lake to the boarder, my husband and I were working so hard to contain our contain our excitement and nerves for the BIG surprise.

To say she was surprised is an understatement. She nearly cried the whole two-hour trip back to her grandmother’s home. It’s been pure love and fortunately, due to school closures, Ryann and Kona have had a great time to bond.’
