Kainat, meaning 'the universe' is a beautiful Himalayan brown bear who was rescued from a lifetime of baiting and dancing in Punjab, Pakistan. She had been kept for around five years in terrible conditions - little food, no shelter, and no vet care. With the help of World Animal Protection, Kainat was finally handed over by her owners to the Bioresource Centre and brought to Balkasar bear sanctuary. She was given a full health check by the vets, and despite being in good health, the scars on her body, especially her muzzle, speak volumes of the suffering she went through. Kainat was later released into the main sanctuary enclosure where she will live peacefully for the rest of her life.
