A farmer saw a cobra entering a burrow at his field in western India on March 27.

Fearing for his safety the farmer, who lives near Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, called Akash Jadhav of Wildlife Rescue Society to remove the snake from his field.

Akash and his team dug around the burrow to flush the snake out, but the wily reptile hid underground despite the provocation.

After nearly an hour of standoff and not knowing how deep the burrow went, Akash decided to fill it with water. As the hole flooded the snake came out tentatively but was promptly caught and later released into a nearby forest.
