A herd of elephants attacked and killed an elderly woman in central India's Madhya Pradesh on April 9. The incident took place in the Panpatha core zone of the Bandhavgarh National Park, located in the Umaria district.

Visuals shot on April 10 show an elephant strolling in the clearing of the forest cover in broad daylight. Meanwhile, the officials present on the spot investigate the matter while the locals gather in the region to witness and behold the occurrence.

The elderly woman, identified as Buddibai, and her son, went into the prohibited area of the forest cover to pick Mahua from the tree. Following this, a herd of five elephants attacked them and trampled the woman to death. The woman saved her son and told him to escape from the region.

The forest officer along with some others reached the spot and took control of the situation. The authorities then handed over the remains of the woman after post-mortem. Furthermore, the officials alerted the locals to not enter the prohibited region.
