New moon not sighted by muslims in Cape Town

Muslims from across Cape Town gathered at the Sea Point Promenade fo the sighting of the new moon. The sighting of the new moon heralds the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadaan.

The new moon was not sighted by Crescent Observers Society, which tracks lunar movements of behalf of the muslim community in Cape Town.

Sheikh Irfaan Abrahams, from the Muslim Judicial Council, made the official announcement that Ramadaan, the muslim holy month of fasting, would start on Wednesday 14 April 2021.
