Land acquisition for the construction of a project of national strategic dam Lausimeme in Deli Serdang Regency started on Monday afternoon (12 April). Dozens of residents of the Mardinding village have been blocking the process for decades while the forest was in the status of production land.
Bailiff of the district court Lubuk Pakam visited the land accompanied with security forces. Despite local residents showing their disagreement aggressively, he read the verdict, which is to withdraw the land of thirty hectares that is currently occupied by eight families. They will be given a compensation as a substitute for the land that they own.

Dam Lau Simeme is a strategic project of the national government using the state budget up to 1.3 trillion dollars with a land area of ​​420 hectares. Targeted completion is expected to be year 2023. The dam will be beneficial in order to keep the supply of clean water for the citizens of North Sumatra.
