Forest Department prohibits locals from entering forest due to hunting festival in eastern India
The forest officials have strictly instructed people not to enter the forest cover due to a hunting festival celebrated by the tribal community in eastern India's West Bengal on April 13. The incident took place in Jhargram.
A video features the forest officials instructing the locals to not enter the forest cover or else strict action will be taken against them. Moreover, the officials forbid the men from attempting to hunt animals in the forest and command them to leave the region, following which they create a ruckus.
The tribal community in Jhargram celebrates a hunting festival in which they kill animals and birds using various weapons and bring them home to enjoy the occasion.
However, the forest officials of the Lalgarh forest range and the police administration have banned people from entering the forest during this festival or kill them at any cost. The authorities have begun strict surveillance at the entrance of different areas, including Lalgarh of Jhargram district. Despite the instructions, some people have been violating the rules and have entered the forest and killed the animals by shooting them with arrows.
