Terrifying footage shows a glass door shattering during a violent thunderstorm in Malaysia.

Passers-by sheltered in a school building while the heavy rain poured in the capital city Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday afternoon (April 13).

Security guard Ros said he was waiting for the driving rain to stop when a strong gushed suddenly blew and smashed the glass.

He said: ‘I was only trying to record the strong winds but suddenly the rain poured even heavier and then the glass shattered.’

Ros and some of the other people suffered small cuts from the sharp pieces of glass but no one was seriously hurt from the incident. They were given first aid treatments afterwards.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department predicted that scattered thunderstorms would be experienced throughout the city. Some areas in the capital city had experienced flooding due to heavy downpours.

Malaysia and other countries in Southeast Asia are approaching their tropical monsoon rainy season. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
