Hundreds of devotees walked barefoot across burning embers during a religious tradition in Jharkhand, eastern India.

The villagers are seen carefully walking across a trail of burning coal on April 14 during the festival of Bhakta.

The festival held in Bundu also sees devotees fast for five days which they believe brings happiness and prosperity.

Hundreds of devotees paid obeisance at the Shiva temple in the early hours of Wednesday in the Ranichuan complex of Bundu on the popular festival of Bhakta - Panchpargana. On the occasion, many devotees walked barefooted coals and paid their obeisance to Lord Shiva.

A large number of villagers were present to witness this supernatural scene of the devotees walking barefoot on the burning coals. It is said that this tradition has been going on in Panchpargana area for about one and a half years. On this festival, local devotees worship Baba Mahadev with reverence and devotion. It is a feast day The devotees keep fast for 5 consecutive days before the festival. It is believed that by fasting, Baba Mahadev fills the devotees with power. In Bhokta Parvat, Bhokta recites the Puja in a natural way. And burning embers are decorated at the place of worship at night. On this day, all the devotees ask for their vow to Baba Mahadev. This festival of faith is also celebrated for the happiness and prosperity of the people.

After the puja, all the devotees who observe the fasting fast walk on the burning embers. It is believed that walking on burning embers on this day does not burn the feet of any devotee due to the power of Lord Shiva. After the pooja recitation, all the devotees and local people sing fiercely.
