Suspected Terrorist Shot Dead by Special Detachment 88 in Makassar
A terrorism suspect was shot dead by Special Detachment 88 assisted by members of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Thursday, April 15, 2021 afternoon. The perpetrator was shot dead for trying to fight the officers with a machete when he was about to be arrested.
The location of the shooting of the suspected terrorist in Sudiang Raya Village, Biringkanaya District, Makassar City, Indonesia, was fitted with a police line. The suspected terrorist with the initials MT was shot by the Densus 88 team and members of the South Sulawesi Regional Police for trying to fight back when he was about to be arrested. This suspected terrorist is suspected of being the Jamaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD) network.
Head of the Public Relations Division of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Senior Commissioner E Zulpan, said that the police had made efforts to arrest the perpetrators who were suspected of being involved in the suicide bombing network at the Makassar Cathedral, Indonesia. When the statement was to be taken, the perpetrator was aggressive by blindly attacking with a machete. At the location there is still evidence of the weapons used by the perpetrators.
Police officers then fired warning shots into the air. But the perpetrator did not heed, so a measured shot was carried out at the perpetrator, causing death. (*)
