This footage was filmed and produced 12 April 2021.

Several hundred people protested in Italy's capital against weeks of restaurant closures due to Covid-19, restrictions that many worry will continue through April. The protest by restaurant owners and others in Rome was the latest in a series of anti-lockdown demonstrations across Italy, including a Saturday protest in Naples by shopkeepers and a similar protest by restaurateurs in the capital last week.

The video shows a heated demonstration by restaurateurs and shopkeepers against the Italian government's anti-covid measures under the slogan #ioApro (#I open). The atmosphere was grim, partly due to the presence of a large group of Casa Pound, a post-fascist party (on the video the people waving Italian flags). The square was closed from three sides by the riot squad of the Italian police.

Video location: Rome, Piazza San Silvestro, 100 metres from the governmental centre.
