A 1000-step spiral staircase on the side of a cliff officially opened to the public in southern China.

The cool video, shot in the city of Chongqing on April 12, shows tourists walking up the staircase that turns more than 4500 degrees from bottom to top.

According to an employee named Xu Li, the spiral staircase was made of steel and each step was designed to be non-slip.

The spiral staircase attracted lots of tourists as well as made it more convenient for the local villagers to commute.

It used to take around an hour for the villagers to walk down the mountain but now the journey has been reduced to less than ten minutes.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
