Aylesbury Estate residents under siege

Having left her flat for a few minutes in her flip-flops, in order to collect her disabled friend, a resident of the besieged Southwark Ayelsbury Estate finds herself locked out and has to plead with the security guards to let her get back to her children.

Following a high-profile protest occupation of some of the empty flats on the Estate, the Council decided the restricted areas would be blocked off with iron gates and fencing and guarded by a private security firm.
For the people still living there this means limiting and endangering access to their homes.
