Locals in Cianjur, Indonesia, are earning money by processing heaps of plastic waste.

Footage from April 15 shows sacks of plastic waste being processed into minerals that are then used to manufacture sports shirts.

The plant is estimated to process around 1 ton of waste each year.

Garbage is usually a problem, but in the hands of enterprising people it can be turned into money. Residents of the village of Jambudipa, District Warukondang, Cianjur, West Java process plastic waste into a basic material for making sport shirts. In addition to reducing plastic waste a ton in one year, this business also opens jobs for local youth. The business of processing plastic waste can reap a profit of hundreds of millions of dollars in one year.
