Demolition of Northampton bus station

Footage has emerged of a bus station in Northampton being demolished on Sunday.

The video, captured by a bystander, shows the controlled implosion of the Greyfriars building at 09:40 GMT.

The controversial building, erected in 1976, was considered unsightly by many people, and was once described as the "Mouth of Hell" by TV presenter Kevin Macleod.

Writing online about the demolition, the filmer said "Northampton's historic and sometimes controversial bus station was demolished this morning. It went from ugly to rubble in seconds... and I'm sure that many many pigeons that lived among the buildings bizarre ridges and crevices met a grizzly end as well."
