Chennai Air Customs seized 6 kg (13.2 lbs) gold concealed in an Air Indian flight from Dubai. The Air India flight was rummaged on intelligence input that gold was smuggled in from Dubai. On further examination, two heavy packets were found under one of the seat cushions of the aircraft. On cut opening, six gold bars weighing 1 kg (2.2 lbs) each worth Rs. 2.9 crore (USD 3,89,050) were recovered and seized as unclaimed under Customs Act.
