First harvest of vaname shrimp with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in West Java, Indonesia

The Ministry of Forestry, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries carried out the first harvest of Vaname Shrimp Cultivation, in the Vaname Shrimp Cultivation Cluster located in Kp Ciwidig, Kertajati Village, Cidaun Cianjur District, South West Java, on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
The Ministry of KKP as providing grants and providing technical guidance to community members who are members of the MANDIRI LMDH group in the PERHUTANI KRPH Ciwidig KPH Sindangbarang area.
The land was originally a paddy field cultivated by a community adjacent to the PERHUTANI area of approximately 4.5 hectares. Now the land is used as the Vaname Shrimp Cultivation Cluster.
This shrimp farm is one of the pilots in cooperation with Perhutani, which is managed by LMDH. The vaname shrimp farming in Kp Ciwidig is the only one in the area.
From an area of about 4.5 hectares or thirteen ponds in this first harvest can produce 30 tons of shrimp.
This vaname shrimp is quite potential for export because the demand for shrimp in the world is quite large.
So, according to the Director General of Cianjur Region KKP Cultivation, there is enough potential for the development of the Vaname Shrimp Cultivation Cluster in a sustainable manner. Meanwhile, according to a member of Commission IV DPR RI from the Gerindra party, by looking at the potential export opportunities for Vaname prawns for the sake of economic growth in the community, next year they will try to propose an additional budget for the development of this shrimp farming.
