Authorities in Aden started vaccinating medical personnel

These scenes are related to the health authorities in Yemen launching the first vaccination dose of the "AstraZeneca" vaccine against Covid-19. The health authorities began distributing the first batch of it to medical personnel, and the first vaccine was conducted for the Yemeni Minister of Health himself in the temporary capital "Aden", provided that the rest of the health facilities in other governorates will be completed in the coming days.
The health authorities in Yemen received the first batch of this vaccine on the 31st of last March, amounting to 360,000 doses, which arrived at Aden International Airport in southern Yemen , out of 8.1 million doses provided by the Global Vaccine Alliance "Kovacs". The Yemeni Ministry of Health confirmed, through Dr. "Ishraq Al-Sebaei," a spokeswoman for the Joint Committee to supervise the AstraZeneca vaccine, in a statement to the local media from earlier, that the vaccine will target medical staff and health workers, and then the elderly and people with chronic diseases.
Al-Sebaei stated also that the first batch of this vaccine will target 180,000 of medical staff and health workers, and they will be vaccinated in two doses; the first began during the past hours, and the second dose will be launched 8 weeks after taking the first dose, and coordination has been made with the governors and security authorities in the governorates and districts to ensure the passage of the vaccine through the security points of the targeted areas.
Dr. "Ashraq Al-Sebaei" added that Yemen will receive in the coming days 6.1 million additional doses of "AstraZeneca" vaccine at the level of Yemen as a whole, which will be distributed through the World Health Organization and UNICEF, and that the Global Vaccine Alliance "Kovax" will also support Yemen with vaccines other than " AstraZeneca.
