Twenty-two COVID-19 patients at a hospital in northwestern India died today (April 21) when a gas tank leaked, interrupting the supply of oxygen to their ventilators.

Footage filmed at the Zakir Hussain municipal hospital in Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra showed clouds of oxygen swirling around the outside of the building.

The video showed firefighters and other security officers at the scene.

According to local reports, the leak halted oxygen supply to patients for 30 minutes in which time all 22 patients died.

India is in the grip of a very serious second wave of COVID-19.

The country reported 295,041 cases of coronavirus and 2,023 deaths on Wednesday, according to a CNN tally of figures from the Indian Ministry of Health.

According to reports all the victims were on ventilators and in need of continuous oxygen supply .
An oxygen tanker leaked on 21st April outside hospital causing oxygen hault to patients for 30 minutes , this cause deaths of patients. State government have initiated an inquiry to investigate the case .
