Hungry toucans try to eat road highway camera in Brazil
This is the amusing moment a curious pair of toucans tried to eat a highway camera in South America.
Footage shows the feathered creatures standing on the metal railings next to the camera before poking it with their colourful beaks in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil, on April 18.
At one point, the wild animals even appeared to try to ‘taste’ and ‘eat’ the strange shiny device on top of the pole on the motorway.
The eager birds spent around two minutes trying to meddle with the surveillance camera before they flew off together.
A representative of AutoBan, the company who manages the motorway, said it was the fifth time that wild birds had attacked one of their traffic cameras in Brazil.
He said: ‘The toucan pair were the fifth birds to do that. All three of these events happened on the same motorway in Campinas.’
The toco toucan, also known as the common toucan or giant toucan, is the largest in the toucan family. It is mostly found in the forests throughout a large part of central and eastern South America.
