Relatives of COVID-19 patients in Madhya Pradesh loot oxygen cylinders as India sets a new record for daily cases.

The medical staff mentioned that there has been a higher demand for oxygen due to the country's second wave of the virus.

In response to this altercation, medical staff stopped treating the patients. However, they resumed their treatment after a civil surgeon and the Chief Medical Health Officer of the hospital asked for a strict investigation into the matter.

India broke a new record for daily cases with 315,802 new infections on April 21.

Amid the worsening Covid-19 situation, relatives of patients resorted to robbing the tanks of medical oxygen at a government-run hospital in central India's Madhya Pradesh on April 20. The incident took place in Damoh.

A video features the locals going berserk and looting the oxygen cylinders from inside the storeroom. Following this, the officials evacuate the area while the enraged hospital staff unfolds the entire matter.

Medical experts mentioned that during the second wave of Covid-19 there has been a higher oxygen demand. Oxygen remains an indispensable tool in treating Covid-19 as the disease leads to respiratory problems. However, the kin of patients allegedly looted cylinders from the hospital premises, despite adequate supply.

Moreover, following this incident, the hospital staff stopped treating the patients.
