Air Customs officials seized gold worth Rs. 44.5 lakh (USD 59,067) from southern India's Chennai International Airport on April 21. The suspect was intercepted at the exit of the airport.

A video features three packets of gold wrapped with white adhesive tape. Following this, the officials open the packets and seize the molten chunk of precious metal obtained from it.

A 27-year-old, identified as Valentina Mary, of Bengaluru, who arrived from Dubai by Emirates flight EK-542, was intercepted at the exit. Following this, on her examination, three packets of gold paste wrapped with white adhesive tape weighing 1.09 kg (2.4 lbs) were found concealed in her innerwear. On extraction, 926 grams (2.04 lbs) of gold worth Rs. 44.5 lakh (USD 59,067) was recovered and seized by the officials.

A total of 926 grams (2.04 lbs) of gold worth Rs. 44.5 lakh (USD 59,067) was seized under the Customs Act. Furthermore, she was arrested while an investigation into the matter is underway.
