A black-naped monarch bird was spotted along with its chicks in Sri Lanka's North Western and North Central province on April 16. The incident took place in the Wilpattu National Park.

A video features the bird peacefully residing in its nest. Later, the flycatcher perches on a delicate branch adjacent to the roost while two newborn chicks rest inside it. The infants raise their heads and peep out of the nest as the black-naped monarch flies around and keeps switching branches to keep a check on the surroundings.

The black-naped monarchs are slim and agile passerine birds belonging to the monarch flycatchers' family found primarily in southern and south-eastern Asia. The bird laid three eggs in a nest in the National Park and was spotted with two chicks on the premises.
