Police in northern India have uncovered a large stash of cannabis that was buried in a garden.

Footage showed authorities using a digger to remove the drugs at a home in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police seized a total of 34.7 kilos of hashish and also found large quantities of prescription painkillers.

A suspect named as Farooq Ahmad Baht was arrested.

The police officials have recovered a huge consignment of drugs from an underground hideout in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir on April 27. The incident took place in Tulkhan village in Bijbehara tehsil in Anantnag district.

A video witnessing the incident features an excavator digging up a courtyard in broad daylight. Following this, the officials recover several containers full of drugs from the secret hideouts and seize them.

An accused, identified as Farooq Ahmad Baht, hailing from Marhama was apprehended after the police officials received intel about him. Moreover, they recovered 10 bottles of codeine from his possession, following which a First Information Report (FIR) was filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Bijbehara police station.

Moreover, on further interrogation, he revealed the name of one dealer, identified as Mohd Ashraf Khan of Tulkhan village, as he was procuring drugs from him. However, the cops, along with the executive magistrate, rushed to the spot, and on the further search, they recovered 34.7 kg (76.5 lbs) of hash powder, 80 bottles of codeine, and 4,500 capsules of Spasmo-Proxyvon from the courtyard. All these drugs were concealed inside a container in an underground hideout. Furthermore, the accused have been arrested regarding this matter.
