The doses of the Covid-19 vaccine are scarce, especially after the various supply problems that pharmaceutical companies such as AstraZeneca have shown, which has affected both the European Union and Latin America, shown in this footage compiled on April 30.

This has caused the antigen against Covid to become an asset that has redefined global geopolitics.

Countries such as Russia and China are using the doses to strengthen their alliances and projects in certain territories and strengthen their relations, according to international analysts.

The Chinese Sinopharm and Sinovac are used in 33 and 24 countries, respectively. The first is already administered in Peru, Bolivia and Argentina, while Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile and Mexico use the second.

Of the countries where the Russian Sputnik V vaccine has been approved, more than 20% are Latin American and Caribbean nations.

At least 10 Latin American countries have received or are expected to receive the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia soon, and at least 10 await the drug from Sinovac or Sinopharm from China.

Argentina was the first country in the region to use Sputnik V, and recently became the first country in Latin America to launch the production of the Russian coronavirus vaccine, announced the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

After it was approved by the governments of countries such as Argentina, Mexico, Bolivia, Paraguay and Venezuela, it arrived in Brazil, the largest Latin American country, which began the procedures for the purchase of Sputnik V. On April 6, the president Brazilian Jair Bolsonaro and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation to expedite the use of the vaccine in Brazil.

As the Brazilian president himself explained on his social networks on the occasion, the conversation dealt with the possibility of receiving Russian vaccines in Brazil and was "very productive."

However, the Brazilian regulator Anvisa denied on Monday a request from several Brazilian states to import the vaccine, arguing that there was not "sufficient technical data to verify its safety and efficacy."
