A protective cow kept charging locals who were trying to free her calf from beneath a lorry in southern India last week.

The playful young animal wedged itself beneath the vehicle outside a grocery shop in the Pudhukottai District of Tamilnadu on April 29.

Every time locals attempted to free the stricken creature, its mother would charge.

Eventually, they managed to keep her at bay and pull the calf to safety where it was immediately reunited with its anxious mother.

A lorry was parked in in front of a grocery shop to unload groceries in Pudhukottai District of Tamilnadu. A playful calf that was passing the lorry went underneath the lorry and got struck. Mama cow noticed the missing calf and found that it was struck under the lorry. A couple of people noticed the ordeal of the cow and the calf and just came forward to rescue the calf. But the mummy cow thought that the people just came to hurt the calf and so it didnt allow any one to come near the calf.

Then one man chased the cow away from the cow and then some people started the rescue operation. The calf just need to fold its legs but it didnt do that as it was very scared. then the rescuers managed to get it out from the lorry in the mean time mummy cow again got ferocious and tried to attack the rescuers. But luckily none was injured neither the cow or the calf nor the rescuers was injured. Then the calf was happily reunited with its mummy
