The Palembang Police Special Criminal Unit thwarted the circulation of ground snapper containing preservatives for corpses from the Jakabaring Main Market, Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia.
The police arrested two people who were suspected of being the owners. A total of 8.3 tons of ground snapper containing corpse preservative chemicals stored in one of the fish storage warehouses in the Jakabaring Main Market Area were confiscated by the Police Special Criminal Unit of the Palembang Police and the Center for Drug Control.
The discovery of ground snapper containing Formaldehyde was based on public information and finding of 1 kilogram packaged snapper containing Formalin during an operation at the Jakabaring Central Market in Palembang. According to the officer, the chemical substance of the corpse preservative contained in the ground snapper has exceeded the level of chemical use which is very dangerous if consumed.
