The local police booked Javed, a man who modified his auto-rickshaw into an ambulance to help COVID-19 patients, for violating the pandemic norms in Central India's Madhya Pradesh on May 1. The incident took place in Bhopal.

Visuals feature the police officials barricading the road to not let Javed pass through. They stop his auto-ambulance in the middle of the street and accuse him of violating the pandemic protocols. Javed pleads with the cops to let him pass, but they do not budge.

Madhya Pradesh has imposed a curfew in the state because of the rise in COVID-19 cases, and several corridors have been made for the smooth movement of ambulances and others involved in emergency services.

On Saturday, the police pulled up Javed for violation of Section 144. Moreover, when the cops discovered that he did not have an emergency service pass, they charged him under Section 188.

The incident unfolded even after Javed told the officials that he used his auto as an emergency ambulance to transport COVID-19 patients to hospitals.

However, upon being informed about Javed's predicament, the locals displayed their outrage, following which the police withdrew the case and issued a special pass for Javed.
