A team in northeastern India worked for around six hours today (May 3) to free a baby elephant that fell into a well.

The calf became separated from the herd and fell into the water source at night in the Giridig area of Jharkhand state.

A team of rescuers made up of members of the forest department and locals used three diggers to create a ramp leading from the bottom of the 50-foot well to the surface.

When the ramp was complete, the baby elephant walked to safety and and immediately ran off into the jungle, apparently unharmed.

According to forest officials a baby elephant which seems to have diverted the way from the herd last evening fell into the open well due to dark . When in morning some villagers noticed this big baby animal into it they immediately informed the local authorities and forest officials .
Forest officials told that the well was around 45-50 feet deep and to rescue out the elephant they have to dig the one r
Area around the well and make a pathway for baby elephant , so that it himself walk out , and the same happened .
Forest department used three JCB vehicles to dig one side of the well and make a ramp way for the baby elephant . Lots of villagers gathered there to see the rescue operation.
After the way was made the baby elephant after several try finally came out of the well successfully , after coming out the elephant ran into the forest area.
It took them around 6-7 hours of time to rescue the baby elephant out of that well
The incident happened in Giridig area of Ranchi in the stage of Jharkhand .
