Authorities in Madhya Pradesh, central India, forced locals who flouting the COVID-19 curfew to perform squats in the streets.

The officials also made the flouters walk along the road in an uncomfortable squat position.

Several officials publicly punished the locals and shamed them amid the street for flouting the Covid-19 curfew in central India's Madhya Pradesh on May 2. The incident took place in Depalpur in the Indore district.

A video witnessing the incident features the police officials and other authorities punishing the locals for openly flouting the guidelines of the lockdown. The officials make them walk amid the street in a squatting posture while the cops encircle them to ensure they are being disciplined. Moreover, if the men attempt to slightly get up from their position, an officer comes rushing towards them and thrashes them. Meanwhile, some people continuously beat drums throughout the time in proximity while the men do sit-ups.

A tax officer, identified as Bajrang Bahadur, along with other police officials, ruthlessly punished the locals for violating the Covid-19 curfew and was accompanied by a band to discipline them in a unique way. The authorities halted the locals near the Chaman intersection and made them crouch down to the ground and thrashed them whenever they got up while walking in that position.

Moreover, considering the outrageous behavior of officer Bajrang Bahadur towards the locals, the authorities mocked him while the villagers threatened to blacken his face. Furthermore, people are questioning the law enforcers following this incident.
