Relatives of deceased patient misbehave with doctors in central India
Relatives of a deceased COVID-19 patient misbehaved with the doctors and created a ruckus in central India's Madhya Pradesh on May 3. The incident occurred at the Patharia COVID center, located in the Damoh district.
Visuals from the incident feature the mourning relatives surrounded by police officials. The family members sit outside while protesting and wail and abuse the authorities for their mismanagement and incompetence. Following this, the cops try to intervene and counsel the family members. Moreover, the officials take the deceased for funeral proceedings with due respect and rituals. Following this, the family leaves the hospital premises.
The incident unfolded when the COVID-19 patient was admitted to the facility after developing breathing issues and was put on oxygen support. However, the family members demanded shifting the patient to a different facility later, which the administration denied. This agitated the family, and they created a ruckus in the hospital while the patient died due to inadequate oxygen supply.
The second wave of the Coronavirus crisis has crippled the healthcare system of the country. Incidents of violence against doctors and frontline workers are increasing each day as the nation struggles with the rising COVID-19 cases.
