The authorities cremated 18 COVID-19 patients while adhering to the pandemic protocols in central India's Madhya Pradesh on May 3. The incident took place in Khurai, located in the Sagar district.

Visuals feature the authorities conducting the last rites of the deceased. Dressed in personal protective equipment (PPE) kits, the officials carry the bodies to the crematorium and perform the rituals while adhering to the pandemic protocols.

Apart from the COVID-19 deaths, the death toll, in general, is also increasing in the region. So far, the Municipal Corporation authorities have cremated 18 people under the COVID-19 protocols. At least 12 people died on Saturday, out of which three died due to the Coronavirus.

The situation has worsened so much in the area that the pyers keep burning one after the other. This has put immense pressure on the crematoriums and the Municipal Corporation workers conducting the last rites of the deceased. However, different arrangements have been made at the cemetery for the COVID-19 patients.
