Nail-biting moment vehicle grinds to halt just inches away from toddler crossing road in China
A 3-year-old girl was almost hit by a truck when she crossed a road in southern China.
In the footage captured in Chongqing on April 27, a girl is seen running across a road causing an oncoming truck to perform an emergency stop.
Fortunately, the driver managed to avoid crashing into the toddler by just a few inches.
The local traffic police quickly found the light truck driver and gave him a penalty of three points off from his drivers license and a fine of 200yuan (≈£22).
According to Article 47 of the Road Traffic Safety Law in China, a motor vehicle should slow down when passing a crosswalk and stop to give way when a pedestrian is passing the crosswalk.
