Hundreds of Colombians staged a demonstration in London’s Trafalgar Square against the government in their country after hundreds of people injured and dozens reportedly killed during protests in last week.

Protests in Colombia started on 28 April against the now shelved tax reform. President Iván Duque announced on Sunday that he would withdraw the tax reform but protests have continued in Colombia's major cities.

The umbrella group that called the protests has convened a nationwide strike for today saying the withdrawal of the reform was not enough.

Group also wants improvements to Colombia's pension, health and education systems.

Protesters were angry at the use of force by the security forces.

Colombia's ombudsman on Monday said at least 19 people had died during a week of unrest.
