South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, addressed the issues of corruption and land reform at an Iftar at the Islamia College in Lansdowne in Cape Town. Ramphosa was invited to share in the breaking of the Muslim fast by the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) and Faiez Jacobs, a member of parliament for the African National Congress (ANC) .

President of the MJC, Sheikh Irfaan Abrahams, raised the issue of corruption as he addressed guests at the dinner.

When addressing the guests, Ramaphosa promised to put an end to corruption and also committed to ensuring that land claimants from District 6 would return to the land they were forcibly removed from under the apartheid regime.

Ramaphosa has been fighting an ongoing battle within his government and his ruling ANC party to stop corruption. Yesterday the secretary-general of the ANC, Ace Magashule, was suspended as he is facing criminal charges.
