SpaceX Starlink 'satellite train' lights up the night sky over Madrid

The night sky over Madrid was lit up by what appeared to be a row of SpaceX satellites, on 6 May.

The glittering line of lights formed a 'satellite train' in space, part of a vast network of satellites that Elon Musk's company intends to use for its Starlink internet service.

Despite being relatively small, the satellites can look bright when their location allows the sun's light to bounce off them to observers in darkness on the ground.

Many Americans witnessed similar sightings over the US the following night.
