A huge crowd gathered at the Jama Masjid and other mosques despite the Covid-19 curfew in central India's Madhya Pradesh on May 7. The incident took place in Naugaon in the Chhatarpur district.

A video witnessing the incident features a huge crowd of people gathering inside the mosque to offer prayers in broad daylight. Following this, the police officials reach the spot and wait outside the mosque for a while. After a few moments, they begin to evacuate the place while the entire street gets clustered as men hurry their way out of the region.

Despite the lockdown imposed in the state till May 15, several devotees gathered in the Jama Masjid and other mosques to offer their prayers amid the Covid-19 crisis, flouting several norms in the way. Moreover, under section 144 any public gathering with more than five people has strictly been prohibited by the officials. There was also a containment zone near the mosque when these locals assembled there, even though their Islamic religious scholar was instructed not to allow this.
