Originally bred to hunt game birds, such as quail and pheasant, it’s rare to see Gordon setters these days. Eager, confident, fearless, and loyal, these dogs make wonderful family pets. In addition, they make great field trial competitors and hunting dogs. It would be a terrible shame for this breed to die out.

Being one of Scotland's oldest breeds, the Gordon Setter's popularity continues to plummet.
and are now officially at risk of extinction.

The hunting dog has been added to the Kennel Club's 'at risk' list after just over 170 were registered in 2018 - which is down 60% over the last six years.

Although the Gordon Setter is considered one of Britain's oldest native breeds, its popularity continues to plummet sparking fears for its future.

They are just incredibly friendly, wonderfully single- minded and incredibly loving to their owners and tend to be a one person dog

"We must all work together to keep our native breeds thriving for centuries to come.
