Landslide gold mine in Indonesia, 8 people killed

An illegal gold mine pit in Timbahan, Jorong Kapalo Koto, Nagari Abai, Sangir Batang Hari District, Solok Selatan Regency, West Sumatra, Indonesia, landslides and a number of workers are buried in it. The South Solok Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that 17 miners were victims. eight were killed, while nine others survived with their injuries.

Head of South Solok BPBD, Richie Amran said the landslide incident at the mine site occurred on Monday (10/5/2021) morning. he just got the information in the afternoon Richie said that the mine site which collapsed was far in the interior.

“It's a difficult area. From the highway drive up to one to one and a half hours. So, from that point we also have to walk for another two and a half hours. Communication is very difficult, because there is no signal (cell phone), "said Richie.

He explained that as of Tuesday, his party had found 17 people.

"We need data correction. Yesterday we were informed that eight of them died, it turned out that one was still injured, so that not eight of the victims died, but seven, "said Richie.

Currently the search for the victim is resuming. Gold mining itself is an illegal gold mine.

There were rumors that there were more than 50 miners buried at the location.
