An animal rescuer climbed 20 foot up netting at a construction site in Pune, western India, to free a trapped snake.

The footage from May 4 shows Saidas Kusal scale the netting where a non-venomous rat snake had become entangled.

Kusal managed to restrain the 4-foot-long snake before using a small blade to cut away the plastic wires.

The rescued then released the snake into the wild.

He said: "The height and the terrain made it a difficult rescue. It took hours to complete the job.”

Workers at a highrise construction site in Pune in western India saw a snake that was badly trapped in a safety net on May 4.

Snake rescuer Saidas Kusal went to the site on getting a call. He saw that a non venomous rat snake was stuck in the middle of a 40-feet high safety that had been put up to keep the freshly dug earth from caving in.

It had gone to hunt rodents and had been trapped while chasing a prey.

It was risky to climb as there was a risk of landslide. But seeing there was no other way to approach the snake, Saidas climbed 20-feet to rescue it.

The four-feet long snake, which had gone limp, suddenly came alive and started attacking Saidas. He grabbed its head to restrain it. He called a colleague up to hold the snake down and sliced through the plastic wires of the net with a small blade.

He brought the snake down, removed all the wires and released it in the wild later.

Saidas said: “The height and the terrain made it a difficult rescue. It took hours to complete the job.”
