Lee Howdle, 34, was out walking with friends when he captured the stunning spectacle unfold over Dragon's Back early on Wednesday evening (12/5).

Two colourful rainbows can be seen arching over the rocky landscape and lush green fields as Britain continued to be hit by strong sunshine and heavy showers.

Lee travelled to the Peak District National Park knowing a day of ever-changing thundery weather might provide him with some dramatic photo opportunities.

The Tesco store manager, of Langley Mills, Derbys., said it was a "photographer's dream" when the double rainbow suddenly appeared over Dragon's Back.

The 425m (1,394 ft) peak got its name as the pinnacles are said to resemble the plated spine of a stegosaurus dinosaur.

Lee, who took the snaps on his Canon 5d Mk4 camera, said: "I went up with a couple of mates as I knew the thundery weather might bring rainbows.

“We kind of knew there was going to be some storms coming with thunder and lightning and we got absolutely soaked. It was a fun but very wet evening.

"I couldn't believe it when the double rainbow formed at around 6.20pm, it was truly something to behold.

"I was very lucky that it formed symmetrically across Dragon’s Back itself. It’s just incredible that the rainbows were over the hill.

“I just think it’s amazing how it appeared on that formation of Dragon’s Back as it could have been to the side, left or to the right - it was just how it formed.

“It really was a photographer's dream."
