The attendees at a wedding ceremony attacked the police officials for attempting to stop the event in central India's Madhya Pradesh on May 12. The incident took place in the Tamia region of the Chhindwara district.

A video witnessing the incident features several police officials attempting to control the crowd gathered at a wedding ceremony during the night. Following this, the cops evacuate the region after talking to people while a police car remains vandalized on the road following the attack.

Amid the Covid-19 curfew, any function or wedding ceremony with gathering has been prohibited in Chhindwara until the situation gets better. However, the police officials received a complaint that a tribal wedding ceremony is being organized with over 200 guests attending it, breaking all the curfew norms. Following this, tax officer Manoj Chaurasia and Tamia police station in-charge Preeti Mishra reached the spot with their team. Both the families were advised that there was a violation of the Covid-19 curfew rule and action would be taken against them, as well as they would have to stop the wedding.

However, enraged by this incident, the attendees attacked the officials and pelted stones at them. They even vandalized their vehicle. Following this, the police station in-charge, Preeti Mishra, a driver, the subordinate tax officer, and both the drivers of the tax officer got injured and were later admitted to the hospital. Furthermore, the senior officers were informed about this incident and a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the accused people.
