On may 15th, around 2000 people gathered in Nantes to show their supports toward the palestinian people in times of rising tensions between Palestine and Israel. Meant as a static demonstration, the protesters decided to leave the place and wander through the city to make Palestine visible to the bystanders and inhabitants.
Despite the authorities not allowing this march, the protest went calmly and the few troublemakers were evacuated from the crowd. The police only asked them to disperse at some point but let the protest pass without any troubles.
The gathering was also a way to denounce the double standard of the french government as it doesn't take any action toward Israel.
Soundbite:
Chems (00:19): "We are here to show our total and unconditionnal support for Gaza, and condemn what Israel is doing out there right now.
We want France to strongly condemn the atrocities happening right now, not support a people over another, no double standard, we need to support every oppressed people in the world. I hope everyone will do something against what's happening."
