This tiny dormouse can be heard SNORING as it curls up for a snooze in the corner of a bird box. The sleepy rodent was spotted by a licensed dormouse surveyor who was checking nest boxes at the Holnicote Estate in Somerset last month. The high pitched whistle is the sound of the mouse's snores as it hibernates in a state of torpor - where its body temperature and metabolic rate are decreased to conserve energy.
