People in Uruguay held the latest "March of Silence" in the capital city of Montevideo in memory relatives of prisoners and missing people during the country's dictatorship.

The event takes place annually on May 20, with this year marking the 26th such march under the slogan "Where are they? No to silence or impunity".

The main avenue of Montevideo was closed in honour of those killed or taken during the country's dictatorship from 1973-1985.

Both 2020 and 2021's marches were held virtually due to COVID restrictions with screens and signs showing pictures of the remembered. As every year, the day ended by singing the verses of the National Anthem.
