After Cyclone Taukate wreaked havoc in the western region, the Coast Guard began to alert fishermen about the new cyclone 'Yaas' in eastern India's Odisha on May 21. The incident took place in Paradeep.

A video features the Indian Coast Guard gearing up to face the cyclonic storm on the east coasts. Following this, they alert the people sailing amid the sea to stay cautious of the situation. Moreover, the authorities make announcements about the weather condition through the radar stations to help the ships on the waterbody to stay aware of the new cyclone and vacate the region.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), alerted that a low-pressure area may form over East Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman sea and hit the coasts by May 23. Moreover, it holds the capability to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm and hit Odisha and West Bengal coasts. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is monitoring the weather conditions and has taken certain preventive measures.

Moreover, the Coast Guard has been directing the fishing vessels to return to the harbour before any mishap transpires. Even the Radar Stations of ICG of both states, including the Remote Operating Station in Paradip, have begun to transmit weather warnings over very high frequency at regular intervals in various languages to alert the merchant vessels and fishermen operating in the sea.
