Police apprehended a smuggler after seizing hundreds of liquor bottles worth 1,704 USD in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday (May 22).

They also warned the public that strict action would be taken against those found transporting liquor, sand and other narcotics through illegal means.

Smuggling is on the rise in India as the country is battling a second wave of COVID-19.

The police apprehended a miscreant and seized illicit liquor worth Rs 1,24,260 (USD 1,704) from him in southern India's Andhra Pradesh on May 22. The incident took place in the Hanuman Junction region, located in the Krishna district.

Visuals feature a police official revealing the details of the case. Later, the team that arrested the miscreant stands behind a couple of tables containing the seized liquor. Several bottles of the illicit liquor rest on the table in line-like formations while the officials pose with them.

The Hanuman Junction police raided a man's house in the region and searched for alcohol. Following this, they found 838 bottles of illicit liquor worth Rs 1,24.260 (USD 1,704), which the miscreant was smuggling in from Telangana.

The police officials, in association with the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), took the man into custody. They also warned the public that strict action would be taken against those found transporting liquor, sand, and other narcotics through illegal means.
