Police made several arrests during a demonstration held by the Querdenken (lateral thinking) movement in central Berlin on Saturday (May 22) against Germany's lockdown measures. The arrests were made due to lack of distance and masks, a number of warnings were given via police speakers before the arrests were carried out.

Protestors also held an unregistered march through the city. It was eventually shut down by police.

The protests are held just one day after the relaxation of lockdown in the city, with people now able to sit outside at bars and restaurants.

According to the Associated Press, the Querdenker movement includes people opposing vaccinations, others who deny the existence of the coronavirus, opponents of face coverings, conspiracy theorists and others.
